[New release of professional incense utensils at affordable price] Kohgen Original Mon-koh practice set Mon-koh practice set is a perfect starter kit to easily enjoy incense appreciation method called Mon-koh (Listening to Incense). In 2011, there was a Taiga drama called G: Hime-tachi no Sengoku broadcasted by NHK television, in which there were many scenes of burning fragrant woods. It was also the time of 1000 years anniversary of The Tale of Genji. Thanks to that, the opportunities to familiarize with different kinds of incenses like fragrant woods or kneaded incense (neriko) have increased. Since then, we have received many customers feedback like "we want to listen to the fragrances of genuine fragrant woods!". (In the incense world, we are saying "listen to the fragrance" instead of "have a whiff of sth".) Before that, we were also thinking to create a Mon-koh set for everyone to enjoy the fragrant woods but this season was a perfect occasion to release a very particular set. [The concept was: cheap but not cheap-looking set with the possibility to replace tools later on] There were 3 conditions. First, affordable price. Second, reliable quality (not cheep-looking) tools. Third, in case of loss or damage, the possibility to purchase similar utensils in the future. After fulfilling these 3 conditions, our main task was to create a convenient set, that will be used with pleasure. [1. Lowering the price of burner] The first thing we struggled with was making the burner price down. We are very peculiar about burners at our store. We wanted to create something similar to Kutani ware, not too heavy not too light, handy vessel thanks to which you can focus on wood appreciation without any tension. The potter's wheel might be used like in Kutani ware making, but this time we decided on one certain shape of Seto ware. [2. 10 kinds of incense burners colors] We have created 10 different colors to give you a vast selection. [3. Making the set with Kyara included] We were also concerned about adding some Kyara to the set. We were aware that if we add the Kyara, the price will rise, so we were considering it until the last moment before release. Finally, we decided on adding just a little bit of Kyara. * Please note that Kyara and agarwood are CITES spices, which cannot be shipped outside Japan. Instead of them, we are providing 10 g of Sandalwood for international orders. Thank you very much for your understanding. [4. Adding the incense tools] This set contains the following incense tools: 1 mica plate, silver tweezers, ash press and metal chopsticks. [5. Adding charcoal and ash] In the end, we have added the charcoal and ash dedicated for incense burners. With all these items you are ready to enjoy Mon-koh incense appreciation at once. [6. Making the most easy-to-understand explanations possible] We have also prepared explanations about how to burn fragrant woods. (*Currently, the explanations are in Japanese. Please, contact us for information in English). This set was created to give the opportunity to try fragrant woods that are more and more expensive every year at the affordable price. Enjoy the fragrance in a traditional Japanese Mon-koh (Listening to Incense) manner. Product content: ・Kohgen Original Mon-koh burner ・Fragrant wood - Kyara (*available for orders within Japan only) ・Fragrant wood - Agarwood (*available for orders within Japan only) ・Fragrant wood - Sandalwood (*in case of international shipping we provide 10g of Sandalwood to compensate the lack of Agarwood and Kyara) ・Sumi charcoal ・Silver tweezers ・Ash press ・Metal chopsticks ・Mica plate ・Ash for incense burners
